DIY Up-Cycled Denim Phone Case

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous new year! Here is a really quick, easy DIY idea/tutorial that ensures you can up cycle your old jeans into a new, useful phone case. (Sorry in advance for the bad images, as they aren't very informative.)

Before we begin there are a few things you will need;

~Old Jeans,

~Sewing Machine/ sewing needle and thread (if you're hand sewing),

~Additional embellishments (e.g. Ribbon, lace, etc.)

So, to begin; take your old jeans and fold over one leg edge. Place your mobile device over the top and cut the bottom off of the jean leg (if you wish, you could make a pattern for more accurate measurements, however I decided to spontaneously do this tutorial). This will be the length of your phone case, make sure you do not cut to close to your mobile device as it is easier to remove material later then to add it.

Next, unfold the leg edge and separate into two sections by cutting down the two seams of the jeans. You could make two phone cases at this point, as you will only use one of the two sides.

After that, take some lace or ribbon of your choice and measure the same length as the original seam of the jeans and pin over the top and sew.

 

Then refold the edge over and sew both along the top and again along the lace/ribbon.

Fold the phone case in half with the inside showing and remove any excess material by cutting. Place your mobile device on top before pinning the edges ready to sew.

Finally, sew all seams, remove pins and turn inside out. Ensure your mobile phone fits in and there you have an up cycled denim phone case that looks great and was easy to create!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Merry Christmas!!! Hello everyone! Here is my Christmas post special along side a five of my own Christmas crafts and DIYs that have been made over the years!

Firstly this plain,wooden 'Noel' sign was cheaply purchased and then decopatched in lovely Christmas paper- it looks great and rivals some signs you may find in some shops.

Next, this groovy tree was handmade by my lovely nan. The base is firm in order to weigh the tree down and the tree itself was sewn and then stuffing was used in order to 'plump it up'

These jolly snowmen were also decopatched, after picking up the paper mâché plain version from hobby craft a few years ago (I think they still do them around this time of year). I must admit they look quite scary in this image!

This 'Let it Snow' sign was anoth decopatch project and is simply positioned onto the wall using blue-tack.

Finally, my festive cushions! These were sewn using Christmassy fat-quarters and then also stuffed. They look fabulous under the tree and fill up any space that has not be used by presents!

DIY Vintage Camera Phone Case

Hello everyone!

This post will show you how to make your very own vintage camera phone/gadget case to match along side my very popular polymer clay camera tutorial!

 

Before we get started there is just a few things you will need;

~A range of pretty fabrics,

~any extras you wish to add,

~sewing machine (or needle and thread if you wish to sew by hand),

~The printed pattern which can be found in the link below

To begin gather all of your equipment and cut out the pattern, and pin to your chosen fabrics. Then accurately cut out your shapes.

 

Sew the decoration onto the front side of the main phone sock, using the first image as a guide. Remember to pin, in order to stop the fabric moving and to ensure straight seams and lines of stitching.

 

Once all of your decoration is sewn, place the two sides of fabric on top of each other back to front and pin. Sew around 3 sides and then hem the top, add a strap to the top and voila!

DIY Pencil Case

Hi everyone, 

Recently I came to the conclusion that I really needed a new pencil case. After wondering through shops I also came to the conclusion that the one I wanted didn't exist-a floral patterned pencil case! So then I googled pencil case patterns and found this tutorial;

I did have to make my own pattern- which in many ways was a good thing as I could make it to my own specifications. Also I ran out of ordinary zips and had to improvise with an invisible one. However once again sewing came to the rescue and I am quite pleased with the result! New tutorials also coming soon!

Handmade Teddy Bears!

While on the hunt for a project I came across this bear pattern and fabulous tutorial, originally created as a baby or child's toy, I used furry fabric to create my own!
